Japanese is spoken by over 130 million people in Japan and in Japanese emigrant communities (the largest of which are to be found in Brazil). It is a member of the Japonic (or Japanese-Ryukyuan) language family.
Basic Japanese grammar is relatively simple. Japanese also knows relatively few sounds, and pronunciation poses little problems to most learners. The biggest difficulty are accents, which do exist, but to a much lower extent than in Chinese.
